Learn how to prune your roses to keep them healthy and full of luscious blooms.

With Songaia's remarkable collection of over 50 heirloom roses as our living classroom, we will demonstrate basic pruning strategies for a variety of roses—hybrid tea, shrub, floribunda, climbing, wild and more. Learn the tools + supplies you will need, get a primer on rose care in the PNW, and practice your pruning technique in an established learning garden with a supportive instructor.

Beyond practical skills, participants will enjoy foods and herbal medicines made from roses—learning some of their many healing benefits to humans.

This class will hold a lens of ecological rose care, and deep reverence for the many foods + medicines that roses provide cross-culturally. Participants will walk away with greater rose literacy, a detailed handout, a rose recipe, a taste of rose medicine, and more confidence in tending roses at home and beyond.
