Learn how to prune your fruit trees to keep them healthy and improve your yield of home-grown fruit.
With the orchard as our living classroom, we will cover basic winter pruning strategies for common fruit trees in the PNW. We will discuss the tools + supplies needed for the job, talk holistic fruit tree care, and offer a hands-on pruning demonstration in the edible forest gardens at Songaia Cohousing Community.
Participants will walk away a deeper knowledge of fruit tree anatomy, a detailed pruning handout, and greater confidence in tending fruit trees at home and beyond.
Join us for fun, informative afternoon of learning plant skills that will serve for a lifetime.

about the instructor:
Katie Vincent is an ecological garden coach, consultant and designer based out of Duvall, WA. They’ve worked with plants and people for over 18 years, most recently as the garden manager at Bastyr University and as a lecturer for UW School of Landscape Architecture. Katie believes that in these extraordinary times of climate upheaval, the Earth needs all the “green thumbs” it can get.
