land stewardship training
Tending Alive’s Land Stewardship Training is a 9-month program that provides a comprehensive, holistic approach to tending land for stewards of all levels.
It is designed to empower you with both the skills and the perspective you need to create meaningful, reciprocal relationships with the land you are on.
who is this for?
You do not need to own land to steward the aliveness around you.
Past participants have brought a range of skills and experience—from forestry, farming, gardening, herbalism, and seed collection to nothing but curiosity—and come from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Wherever you begin, we learn together.
Awaken your
inner land steward.
Help your hands
remember how to tend
our local ecologies
back to life.

what is included?
The full program consists of 10 weekend intensives that immerse you in the worlds of soil, water, food, herbs, plant care, cultural lifeways, ecological restoration, wildlife tracking, habitat and more.
Our weekends are designed to attune you with the seasons of the Salish Sea. Each features local guest teachers, a living library and hands-on lessons that leave participants with new connections, knowledge and skills.
An optional self-designed land ceremony is also included.

TOM C.,
environmental leader
If you want to dive deeply into restoration of our land, place, and relations - this land stewardship program is for you. It enables you to shift your perceptions and gain new knowledge about how we resensitize to our living world.

TAMARA W.,
land steward + educator
As a university student in environmental studies, the training was truly transformative—providing the missing piece to a deeper way of knowing and understanding.
Braiding different epistemological lenses allowed me to reconnect to land in a reciprocal, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual way. I'm excited to continue to share the gift through my work at the Clearwater School and North Creek watershed.”

BRIDGET M.,
land steward
As a person with a professional background working with plants in extractive and consumptive ways, I was grateful to discover new ideas, practices and resources that move me toward a more meaningful, mutually-nurturing relationship with land.
The learning container has felt so nurturing and safe—always allowing for deep sharing and honoring all beings present in the space.
I feel inspired to continue my journey as a steward in service to land.
